Introduction: Our experience of public space is being transformed to such an extent that In many cities buildings have become giant canvases for the display of new media art. Artists and curators have a new public space to use as galleries and for exhibitions.
In addition, there is much talk of how media rich urban spaces – buildings, technology and media art – are catalysts for regeneration. Or, that our experience of the urban is being transformed by the crossover of art with technology.
Dwell-Time; This blog is a resource that combines the very latest research into New Media, Art and Public Space.
The work being developed here is driven by an intention to understand the use of urban screens in a creative and community context and to document the rapid development of, so called, “augmented public space”.
Alongside this research there will be less formal contributions including the display of artistic content with the same purpose – to scope out and investigate the cross-section of new media, art and public space.
We begin our investigation with the development of key research questions.
